Highlanders take second in tourney

The First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys’ basketball team claimed second place at the Sherwood Tournament on Dec. 20-21 in Albany.
According to maxpreps.com, the Highlanders beat Byne Christian, 80-34, on Friday; topped Highland Christian Academy, 50-27, early Saturday; but fell to Sherwood Christian, 69-67, in the title game.
Michael Burrett led the Highlanders with 19 points in the title game. Domo Kirkley had 17 points, Richard Smith added 16 points, Fredrick Heggan added nine points and James Phillips had six points.
The Highlanders, 6-2 overall, are off until Jan. 9 when they face Bethesda in Savannah.

Cavs take series opener from Tide

The Long County Blue Tide baseball game into the week knowing they needed to bring their A-game if they were going to beat the Calvary Day Cavaliers. On Tuesday, April 1, they struggled to get much going at the plate as the Cavaliers pulled away late to win the series opener 10-1.
