The Hinesville Hurricanes will kick-off their semi-pro football season Saturday against the Alabama Falcons.
The game will start at 7 p.m. at Liberty Independent Troop Park’s Long Bell Stadium in Hinesville. Admission is $5, children 13 and under admitted free. Raffle tickets will be sold and prizes awarded. Winners must be at game.

The Hurricanes’ coaches are James Sharp, Frank Troup and Michael “Ice” Jones. Sharp said they have a few new players, but several veterans are returning, ensuring a competitive season.

Returning players are Tracy Lewis, Jamie Sharp, Mario Randolph, Charles Crossley, Chauncey Crossley, Timonty “TD” Darden, Tarish Reese, Harold Jackson, Devon King, Stephen Blue, Antonio Chevalier, Chris Housey, Barry Chang, Joe Matavato, Kendrick Badger and Shawn Moses.
Troup and Jones will serve as offensive coordinators with Sharp manning the defense.

The ‘Canes were the 2010 state champions in the Southeast American Football League and are entering their 18th season. Last year the team finished 8-2. The team plans to host roughly five home games in 2018.

Sharp said Saturday’s game was made possible through the support of Navy Federal Credit Union. The Hurricanes are a non-profit corporation.
