The Liberty County Lady Mavericks concluded the 2007 AAU basketball season by participating in the Macon’s Ball Star tournament Aug. 3-5.
The Mavs proved why they will be a team to be feared in upcoming years by capturing the championship trophy.
The team’s outplayed the Dublin Comets in a 47-30 victory in the championship game. Diamone Johnson led Liberty County’s scoring with 19 points and Alecia Jenkins of Bulloch County anchored the defense with timely blocks and 14 points. The 14-under team stepped up the the challenge by participating in this 15-under Tournament.

Cavs take series opener from Tide

The Long County Blue Tide baseball game into the week knowing they needed to bring their A-game if they were going to beat the Calvary Day Cavaliers. On Tuesday, April 1, they struggled to get much going at the plate as the Cavaliers pulled away late to win the series opener 10-1.
