The Liberty County Lady Panther volleyball team hosted Camden and Effingham counties on Thursday, and Catherine Scaggs garnered eight aces during the match against Effingham County.
The Lady Panthers took the first set against Camden, winning 25-22, but lost the next two 11-25 and 15-25 against a hard-serving Lady Wildcat team.
After a quick break, the Panther team went up against the Lady Rebels of Effingham. According to head coach Jene’ Singleton, her squad lost the first set, 17-25, but took the next two 25-23 and 25-18. Singleton said the highlight of those games was the play of Scagss and Miesha Quarterman.Scaggs had 17 serving points, eight ace serves, five assists, six attacks and four kills, and Quarterman had 14 serving points, two ace serves, 10 attacks and scoring on seven kills.
Singleton said the team has the talent, they just need to persevere when they are down.
The Lady Panthers head to Burke County on Thursday to play Burke and Baldwin. They are scheduled to play in a Beach Tournament at Glynn Academy Sept. 11-12 and will host Brunswick and Ware County on Sept. 14 at 5 p.m.
