In their final home game of the season, six senior Lady Panther softball players were honored before taking the field against Washington County in a Region 3-AAA battle.

Alyssa Hutcheson, Karen Donaldson, Desiree Garcia, Stephanie Cedola, Dominique Sibley and Dianna Jimenez stood in the center of the diamond, surrounded by friends and family, and received roses and balloons while fans and teammates cheered.

In preparation for Saturday’s game against region foe Washington County, the girls hit the field Thursday afternoon to host Richmond Hill in a pickup game. The Panthers eked out a 8-7 victory, despite attempts by the Lady Wildcats to rally in the sixth and seventh innings.

Spoiling the rally were two outfield catches by Diamone Johnson and good infield play by Domnique Sibley and Karen Donaldson.

Saturday’s region game was not finished at press time. The Courier will bring you results when they are available.
