It’s now a logjam atop the Region 3-AAA boys basketball standings.
The Johnson Atomsmashers beat the visiting Liberty County Panthers 49-38 Tuesday night, putting the Smashers, the Panthers, Groves and Long County each at 9-4 in the region.
Johnson has beaten Liberty County twice in its two head-to-head matchups.
The Panthers maintained their grasp on the top spot in the region, thanks to a tough win on the road Friday.
The Panthers edged Savannah Christian, the region’s last place team, 46-43, improving to 9-3 in the region and 12-6 overall.
The Liberty County girls edged Johnson 38-36 Tuesday, going to 8-13 on the year and 8-7 in the region. The loss dropped Johnson, No. 3 in the region standings, to 10-4 in region play.
The Lady Panthers routed the Lady Raiders 48-26 last Friday.
Liberty closes out the regular season Friday at home against Long County.
