Lady Panthers fall to Brantley, but down BI 12-0

Liberty County High School’s Lady Panther softball team dropped their Region 2-AAA opening game at home Tuesday afternoon against Brantley County. The Lady Panthers lost 7-4.

Liberty scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning off a single by Meleina Davis and a double by Candice Blitch.
The Lady Herons scored a run in the second inning. They took the lead in the third inning when they drove in four runs off two doubles and a single from the Lady Heron batters. The Nahunta girls then scored two runs in the fourth to extend their lead.

Liberty answered with a run scored in the fifth off an RBI by Madison Winn. But Lady Heron pitcher Taylor Prescott held the Liberty girls taking the win on the mound. She struck out four Lady Panthers.
Davis took the loss on the rubber for Liberty after pitching four innings. She recorded one strikeout. Winn pitched three innings for the Liberty team.

Liberty hosted the Bradwell Lady Tigers Wednesday for a game that was rained out earlier this season. The Liberty girls scored a 12-0 shutout in four innings. Davis took the win on the mound.

Blitch went 1-of-3 with 3 RBIs and Tia Anderson was 2-of-3 with 3 RBIs to lead the Liberty team. Lady Tiger Paige Streeper was 1-for-1 and Whitney Evans was 1-of-2.

The Lady Panthers play at Pierce County Thursday at 6 p.m.
