First Presbyterian Christian Academy fell to 0-2 Friday by losing to Briarwood Academy, 52-20, in Warrenton.
The Highlanders have a bye this week, allowing time to heal any injuries as they prep for their first home game Sept. 12 against Georgia Christian at Long Bell Stadium.
Briarwood ran up a 20-0 lead in the first quarter against FPCA’s small-numbers roster.
FPCA gave up only 31 passing yards, but Briarwood went 4 for 6 for three touchdowns.
But the Buccaneers’ 27-man roster needed only two players to pile up big rushing numbers. Brothers Dakota and Dylan Rese rushed for 214 and 114 yards, respectively, as Briarwood amassed 401 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
The Highlanders put their first six points on the board before half time and scored 14 points in the final quarter.
