Former Liberty County High School linebacker Raekwon McMillan got a lot of playing time in last week’s game between Ohio State and Kent State.
The Buckeyes smothered Kent State, 66-0.
With the Buckeyes holding a comfortable 45-0 lead by half time, head coach Urban Meyer knew it was the right time to see what McMillan, a true freshman, could do as the Buckeyes rested starting linebacker Curtis Grant.
It was the opportunity McMillan had been waiting for.
McMillan lived up to the hype and accolades for the past few months, tallying a game-high seven tackles. Five of those were solo hits and three were good for 11 yards lost by Kent State. McMillan also had two sacks.
During a post-game radio interview, Meyer praised McMillan even saying he displayed, “captain-type material.”
The Buckeyes were off this weekend. They travel to Cincinnati next Saturday for a 6 p.m. game.
