LCRD taekwondo team wins nine medals

The Liberty County Recreation Department Sport Taekwondo Team returned from The National Open Martial Arts Championship in Rome with nine medals and nine trophies.
The eight athletes did their best to impress the coaching staff. The hard work paid off for the Sport Taekwondo team, under the direction of master Rafael Medina and coach Edmond Conyers, who were happy with the great performance that each athlete executed.  
Leah Hughes was superb in her first competition, winning a gold medal in forms, first place in sparring, plus the grand champion in forms.
 David Betts continued his undefeated streak in his taekwondo career and now has six gold medals. He took first in the sparring and the silver in forms.
Austin Ray and Alena Edwards each took first place in sparring and the silver medal in forms.
Zac Rasmussen placed second in sparring and won the gold in forms.
Mychael Conyers and Joshua Starkey each finished second in sparring and won the bronze in forms.
Bethany Lomis finished third in sparring and won the gold in forms. Kenneth Bailum finished third in sparring and won the silver in forms.
