The Fort Stewart Youth Sports Rockets Track Club picked up 60 medals at the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association State Meet in Carrollton, May 11-12
Of those medals, 18 were gold. Leading the way for the Rockets was Adonus Lee, who broke the state high jump record for 9-10 year olds. He cleared 4-feet, 5-inches.
Ironically, it was a Rocket who held the record. Monture Campbell, currently a senior at Bradwell Institute, set the record in 1999 with a 4-4 jump.
In addition to winning the high jump, Lee also won the 800 meter race, finishing it in 2 minutes, 48.10 seconds. He also placed second in the 400, finishing it in 1:07.26.
Campbell and the rest of the Rockets are ready to compete in the Georgia Games at 9 a.m. Saturday at Savannah State University.
