Liberty runs win streak to seven on baseball diamond

The Liberty County Panthers are back on a roll, with seven straight wins on the diamond, including a sweep of the Region 3-AAA baseball opener against Islands.

A six-run third inning lifted the Panthers to a 6-4 win over the Sharks in the series finale. Jaden Herrington was 2-for-4 with a triple, Glemon English tripled and drove in two runs and Ezzard Jemison drove in two runs. Caden Chancey struck out 13 and gave up one earned run and one walk over six innings, and Shedrick Pass fanned two in one inning of work.

The Panthers rallied to take a 10-4 win in the opener against Islands, sealing the win with five runs in the top of the seventh.

Pass and English combined to strike out six over three innings of relief. English also went 2-for-4 and Herrington collected two RBIs.

Chancey struck out five in six innings as the Panthers blanked Bryan County 10-0. Chancey also went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, while Wyatt Huston was 2-for-2 and Anthony Gerace accounted for three RBIs.

A five-run sixth inning helped push the Panthers past Tattnall County 11-7. Mikey Miller drove in three runs, Chancey and Jahair Rodriguez each went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Pass was 2-for-4.

The Panthers, now 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the region, opened a two-game region series with Jenkins on Tuesday and were scheduled to play Brantley County on Wednesday. They will host Long County for a region series opener on March 17 and visit the Tide on March 19.
