Working to develop future athletes means training even during the offseason. In order to stay basketball ready, the Scott’s All-Stars are competing in a fall league that started Sept. 17 in Augusta.
The league meets Saturdays and consists of eight games in which the All-Stars may play against older kids. The league also includes a playoff with a championship-bracket format.
“We decided to attend the fall league because many of our players decided not to play football for various reasons and to ensure they stay in shape for the season,” All-Stars founder Marcus Scott said. “We had several kids attending middle school for the first year, so many parents wanted them to focus on the transition to middle school. The league is only on Saturday, which was important because we didn’t want to it to affect the kids’ school workload.”
Scott added that the kids will continue to visit colleges while in Augusta and perform community service.
“We will also start our tutorial assistance schedule for our youth in math and English in October,” he said.
