The Barracuda Baseball Team brought home the championship trophy from a USSSA 13U AAA “2011 Last Chance” tournament in Forsyth.
Coach Chris Bell said he had set lofty goals for his team as they entered the tournament facing some stiff competition.
“And they met these goals,” he said.
Their second game was against the Blazers of Dekalb.
“This was a back and forth slug fest where they fought off a late charge to win 13-12,” the coach said.
The Barracudas entered the single elimination bracket as the top seed and they upended the Tritons of Macon, 8-0.
The boys faced the Hoyas from Atlanta in the championship game.
The Barracudas jumped out front in the first inning and never looked back as they held on to a 13-6 victory.
The Barracudas finished the 2011 season at No. 1 in the Power Rating of their division in the state and ranked No. 4 nationally.
“Next season they will enter the 14U division with a great deal of momentum and confidence,” Bell said. “The future is bright for this group of young men.”
