Blue Tide football players recognized at banquet

Long County High School hosted its fall sports banquet Tuesday.
Athletes who participated in football, cheerleading, softball, and cross-country were honored during the ceremony.
The football-awards portion of the ceremony featured many All-Region 2-AA honorees.
Vanda Vereen Jr. was recognized as the football team’s most valuable player, a first-team all-region running back and an academic all-region team member. He earned a bar for his team letter and received the Coastal Courier/Mike Reed Player of the Year award.
Randall Behrendt won the offensive Iron Man Award and was named a second-team all-region offensive lineman and an academic all-region team member. He earned the Varsity Academic Award, a bar for his letter and a Coastal Courier/Mike Reed Player of the Week certificate.
Raymond Mesa was a first-team all-region defensive lineman. He received Outstanding Defensive Lineman Award, earned a bar for his letter and was a CC/MR Player of the Week.
Dorian Adkins earned a bar for his letter and was a second-team all-region defensive back and a CC/MR Player of the Week.
Brendon Scott earned a bar for his letter, won the team’s Outstanding Back Award and was a second-team region running back and a CC/MR Player of the Week.  
Nick Stock earned a bar for his letter and won the team’s Outstanding Linebacker Award. He’s an academic all-region team member and a CC/MR Player of the Week. Evan Strickland earned a bar for his letter, won the team’s Outstanding Offensive Lineman award and was named a first-team all-region offensive lineman and a CC/MR Player of the Week.  
Dequan Glover earned a bar for his letter, won the team’s Outstanding Defensive Back award and made the first-team all-region squad as a defensive back.  
Mykoel Stanley earned a bar for his letter, won the team’s defensive Iron Man Award on defense and made the second-team all-region squad as a defensive lineman.
Keishawn Wagner earned his letter and was second-team all-region as a wing back.  
Armando Toledo earned a bar for his letter and made the second-team all-region squad as a linebacker.
Levi Bell received a participation certificate for completing the season and also won the junior-varsity academic award.  
Damien Jones earned his letter, won the JV defensive-player award and was a member of the all-region freshman team.  
Javier Pouncey earned his letter and won the team’s Outstanding Receiver award.
Dylan Stewart earned his letter and made the all-region freshman team.  
Elijah Wright earned a participation certificate and was the JV Offensive Player of the Year.
Other players earning bars for their letters were: Ramonie Farlow, Darius Francis and Matt Holtz.  Other participates who were awarded their first letter included Johnny Benavides, Shuvon Davis, Xavier Estrada,  Reid Goode, Jaquarius Harrison, Darvis Holmes, Vaughn Kelly, Taezar McCrea, Austin Mills, Isaac Phillips, Isaiah Phillips and DeAndre Reddick.
Other players who earned certificates of participation were: Emil Wright, Darrell Wilson, Gerald Williams, Rex White, Chris Wells, Anthony Waite, Deondra Volcy, Travis Thomas, Antonio Taylor, Michael Shepard, Michael Ross, Quentin Quarterman, Taylor Nalley.  Other’s receiving Certificates were Stephon Adderly, Tariq Carpenter, Angelo Ciccone, Kyree Coprick, Chris Cummings, Jamin Davis, Ron Dumas, Antonio Grubbs, Jonathon Holton, Justin Hubbard, Andrew Jones and Jayson Klingensmith.
Volunteers who were given appreciation awards were Kadee Dasher for painting the team logo on the field each week, Brian Hill for announcing the games, Marc Roe for keeping the clock during games, chain-crew members and the Long County Touchdown Club.
