Long County High School baseball player Luke Golden recently was selected to be a member of Team Georgia.
Golden was named one of the top 20 freshmen and sophomores in the state by a panel of Georgia high school coaches and will play for the USA Baseball 16U National Championship in West Palm Beach, Fla., from June 17-25.
In addition to this honor, Golden also was selected to be a member of the Savannah Chain 16U team.
Golden was the starting pitcher for the Savannah Chain team in the championship game of the second annual Triple Crown Southern Borders Tournament on May 21-22 in Pooler.
In that game, the Blue Tide hurler went five innings and held a 3-2 lead when he was pulled.
The Chain held on to win the game, 11-3, and place first in the tournament.
