Former BI Tiger and Georgia State University football player Ulrick John was selected by the Colts.

It didn’t matter that it happened in the seventh and final round, it matters because it just happened. With their final pick of the 2014 NFL Drat the Indianapolis Colts picked former Bradwell Institute and Georgia State University football player Ulrick John in the seventh round Saturday.

John is the first LibertyCounty resident and BI Tiger to ever be drafted into the NFL.

“After I got the call it was just a really big relief,” John said immediately after being drafted. “It’s great and I am just really excited to have the opportunity to go out there and show them what I can do and compete for a spot on the team whether it be as a starter or a back up.”

John is scheduled to leave first thing Sunday but for mom Jay J. Kesner it’s a Mother’s Day sacrifice she is willing to live with.

“It was the best Mother’s Day present ever…I can’t even describe it…we’ve been planning this since he was nine years old,” mom said.
