Long County baseball standout Luke Golden and the Savannah Chain baseball team placed third in the recent United States Specialty Sports Association state tournament.
The tournament took place June 3-5 in Marietta. The Chain wrapped up the weekend with a 3-2 record.
Though Golden only threw two innings in the tournament due to a sore shoulder, the Blue Tide junior drew several walks at the plate.
Meanwhile, the Chain beat the East Cobb Dodgers, 15-6, split games with the ABA Braves, fell 14-6 to the East Cobb Indians, and split with Viper Baseball.
Golden currently is playing in the Georgia Southern University Showcase that started June 10 and wraps today in Statesboro.
Next week, the Blue Tide hurler will be playing as a member of Team Georgia’s 16U team at the National Championship in West Palm Beach, Fla.
