First Presbyterian Christian Academy’s boys’ basketball team won each of its most recent Region 2-AA showdowns.
FPCA was 8-0 as of Tuesday morning in the Georgia Independent School Association classification, with just two more region opponents left to tackle for the regular season.
On Friday, the FPCA boys beat Brentwood 90-53 at the St. James Sports Center. As has been typical in the past few games, Miguel Pineda led FPCA in scoring by with 25 points. The Highlanders were hot on 3-pointers, with Pineda hitting 5 of 7, Domonique Kirkley draining 2 of 4, Richard Smith hitting his one attempt and Frederick Heaggans sinking in 1 of 3.
On Saturday, the Highlanders ventured into hostile territory but were able claim a 73-65 win over Frederica Academy on St. Simons Island.
Wallace Smith led FPCA with 32 points, according to coach Shane Smith. Pineda scored 14 points.
FPCA was scheduled to face Memorial Day on Tuesday night at the St. James Sports Center. Results were unavailable at press time and will be in Friday’s Courier.
On Friday, the FPCA girls’ and boys’ teams will be in Dublin to face Trinity Christian in their final region and regular-season games beginning with the girls’ game at 6 p.m.
