The Long County High School girls’ softball team was held to one hit Tuesday in an 11-0 loss to McIntosh County in Ludowici.
It was the second straight defeat for Long County after starting the season with a three-game winning streak. The Lady Tide are 0-2 in the 2E-AA sub-region.
“McIntosh County played very good, and I don’t want to take anything away from that fact,” Long County head coach Brian Thomas said. “But we also played very poorly. We came out flat and performed at a low level.”
Long County pitcher Harley Dawson, who took the loss, was the only Blue Tide player to get a hit by going 1-for-2.
“We need to get back to playing as a team, encouraging one another and trusting one another,” Thomas said.
The Lady Tide were scheduled to play Saint Vincent’s Academy on Thursday in Savannah in another big region contest. Results from that game will be in Sunday’s Coastal Courier.
The postponed doubleheader against Atkinson County has been rescheduled to 4 p.m. Sept. 4 in Pearson.
