The Bradwell Institute softball team held its awards banquet Sunday at the Marne Club ballroom on Fort Stewart.
The Lady Tigers celebrated their 9-14 overall record and 3-7 region mark by enjoying a meal and sharing memories during a slide show.
Samantha O’Neal, Amber Ray, Chelsi Shutts, Mercedes Trumpower and Mackenzie Stewart earned their letters. Kelissa Hargrove, Courtney Felton, Marissa Polston, Sarah Wells, Jessica Puckett and Kasey Smith earned bars for their Bradwell letter.
Coaches Jeff and Sharyl Eastlake and BI Principal Scott Carrier presented the varsity awards.
Kelissa Hargrove received the Most Valuable Player Award and the Silver Slugger Award for her .645 batting average. Samantha O’Neal earned the Academic Achievement Award. The Lady Tiger Award went to senior Courtney Felton. Sharyl Eastlake explained that the team did not have a catcher at the start of the season, so Felton gave up her first-base position to catch this year.
“She has been a strong team leader and has dedicated herself to her team,” Sharyl Eastlake said.
Amber Ray earned the Comeback Player of the Year Award, and Sarah Wells earned the Golden Glove Award for playing the most positions with the fewest defensive errors.
Freshman Mackenzie Stewart received the Most Improved Award.
Kasey Smith received with the Coaches Award for her leadership on the field.
Sharyl Eastlake and her daughter, junior-varsity coach Misty Eastlake, presented the JV awards. Ashley Desbiens was voted the MVP. Stewart received the Silver Slugger Award for her .563 batting average. Shania Eldridge earned the Most Improved Award, and Mercedes Trumpower received the Coaches Award.
