Local youth team takes Peach State

The 8U Merchants baseball team won the Peach State Diamond Sports tournament June 18 in Brunswick.
The Merchants, a local traveling baseball team, beat Brantley and Valdosta to advance to the championship game against Pierce County.
The Merchants then beat Pierce, 13-1.
The newly organized team has players representing Liberty, Long and Wayne counties. The baseball team has participated in four tournaments and is 2-2.
Coaches Joey Edwards, Daniel Wells, Eddie Wells, Randy Williams and Carson Wells said they are proud of the team. They said the team has played consistently this summer. The Merchants’ sponsors are Coastal Pawn, C.A. Sittle Inc., All Customs Gutters Co. and Hinesville Fence LLC.
