The Long County Middle School football team on Wednesday won its first game of the season by beating Pierce County Middle School, 22-16, in Blackshear in a battle that went down to the last possession of the game.
With the victory, Long County improved its overall record to 1-4-1.
The Wildcat sixth- and seventh-grade team also had a good day, beating the Pierce County junior team, 6-2.  
The Wildcats wrap up their season Wednesday when they take on Author Williams Middle School at 5 p.m. in Ludowici.
