Former Liberty County Panther Jordan Mcrae and the University of Tennessee basketball team will be in Puerto Rico this weekend.
It will be McRae’s third trip to the annual Puerto-Rico Tip-Off.
The Vols are off to a 2-0 start. On Nov. 5, UT downed Victory University, 99-57. In that game, McRae played 25 minutes and had 15 points, three rebounds, one assist and two blocks. On Nov. 9, McRae scored 14 points in 22 minutes against Kennesaw State. The Vols won, 76-67, and McRae nabbed four rebounds, two assists and one block.
The Vols were to play UNC Asheville on Thursday, will play Akron or Oklahoma tonight and play again Sunday.
McRae is in his junior year. As a freshman, he played in 10 games, averaging 1.8 points per game in 5.3 minutes per contest according to the Volunteers’ athletic website.
Last year, McRae played in all 34 games with 15 starts and led the team in total blocks with 26. He averaged 4.7 rebounds over the last 14 games and ranked fourth on the team in scoring with 8.6 points per game.
McRae was tied for second on the team with 66 deflections last year and shot 32.8 percent from behind the 3-point line.
