Middle-school basketball tourney ongoing through Saturday in area

The Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference Tournament is under way.
The basketball tournament began Tuesday night and continues through the week culminating with the championship games this Saturday.
On Tuesday night, the Pierce County girls tipped off against Appling, while the Pierce County boys’ team played Jeff Davis.
Today, the girls take the court again at Martha Puckett Middle School in Jesup. Jeff Davis was scheduled to play Brantley at 4 p.m., and the winner of Tuesday’s game was set to play the host school at 5:15 p.m. At Waycross Middle School, Long County was scheduled to face Ware County at 4 p.m., and the host school will play Arthur Williams at 5:15 p.m.
The boys take the court Thursday, and Long County will host games starting with a matchup between Waycross and Appling at 4 p.m. The home team will play Ware County at 5:15 p.m. There will be two games held at Martha Puckett as well, beginning at
4 p.m. with Brantley taking on Arthur Williams. At 5:15 p.m., the host school takes on Pierce or Jeff Davis.
The girls’ and boys’ teams continue bracket play starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. All Saturday games leading up to the championship will be held at Martha Puckett Middle School.
