The Long County High School softball team’s struggles continued Thursday in an 8-0 loss to Pierce County in Blackshear.
The loss was the seventh in a row for the Lady Tide, dropping their overall record to 5-16 and their Region 2-AA mark to 0-7.
The leading hitters for the Lady Tide were Taylor Harrison, who went 2 for 3, Amber Wilson who was 1 for 3 with a triple and Brittany Smiley, who was 1 for 3.
With only three games left on the Lady Tide’s schedule, coach Brian Thomas wants to see his players continue to compete.
“I would like to see our girls finish the season playing hard and complete games,” Thomas said.
Long County is back at home Monday for a rematch with Appling County. The Lady Pirates won 12-0 in the first meeting this season. The game begins at 5:30 p.m.
