Forty-one kids attended Scott’s All-Stars’ basketball camp June 27-30 at the Liberty County YMCA.
The kids were broken up into two sessions with the 7- to 9-year-olds participating in the early morning followed by a group of 9- to 14-year-olds.
The campers worked through a series of challenge stations that included ball-handling drills, passing drills, defense drills and various other fundamental skills. Later, they competed against each other in tournament play.
The winners of tournament were decided Thursday. Cherrell Roberts, Samuel Roberts, Montrell Madge, Keegan Porter and Leon Frazier claimed the top prize.
Scott’s All-Stars extended their gratitude to Richard Sommerville for the use of the YMCA to host the camp. The All-Stars also thanked their high school players, Elijah Jones and Tray Tucker for assisting with the camp and coaches Khari Collins, Darrell West and Derek Matthews for running the camp. The All-Stars offered a special thanks to Sharon Vickers for sponsoring five kids in the camp.
Scott’s All-Stars will host another camp July 18-21 at the LCRD for children ages 7-19. Participants should register at the LCRD office off Highway 84.
