Tybee Island to host 10th annual Turtle Trot Run/Walk fundraiser April 26

Tybee Island will have the 10th Annual Tybee Island Turtle Trot fundraiser. This family-friendly run/walk will also include the release of a loggerhead sea-turtle in front of the Tybee Island Marine Science Center after the race. The race is set for Saturday. Sign-in and registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The run/walk begins at 8:30 a.m. The turtle release begins about 10 a.m. The race starts at the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion, 1510 Strand Ave. Advanced online registration closes at 5 p.m. Thursday. Visit Active.com to register online. On-site registration also available Saturday. The fee is $20 for science cener members and $25 for others.

Relay for Life Basketball tournament

The Connection Church’s Mission Possible Team is hosting a basketball tournament to benefit Liberty County’s Relay for Life. 4thannual Miles for meals

The 4thannual Miles for Meals 5K run/walk will start at 8 a.m. May 17 at Daffin Park. All the proceeds will benefit Savannah’s Meals on Wheels program, which provides a hot, nutritious meal to seniors throughout Coastal Georgia. Savannah Mile run

The eighth annual Savannah Mile Run is scheduled for 8 a.m. May 24 at Forsyth Park. The one-mile, all out run begins on the south side of the park, continues down Drayton Street, finishing on Broughton Street. This race attracts all levels of participants, from children to experienced runners. The Savannah Mile will include five heats and feature a Fun Run Family Heat and five age group heats, guaranteeing many award winners. All proceeds go to The 200 Club, which provides financial and educational assistance to the families of police and firefighters who are killed in the line of duty. Tunnel to Towers run open registration

The race is set for Sept. 13, and the 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m.The 3rd annual Tunnel to Towers Run Savannah honors the legacy of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller along with his 342 FDNY first responders who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001. Proceeds benefit the Tunnel to Towers Run Foundation’s various programs including Building for America’s Bravest, which constructs specially adapted smart homes for our nation’s most catastrophically injured service members. The run in Savannah will also feature The Siller Cup Firefighter Challenge. Teams of four firefighters or more from across the nation are expected to compete for a chance to take home a traveling trophy from last year’s winner, Bluffton Township Fire Department, and have the opportunity to defend their title in 2015.

The T2T Run Savannah is also looking for children to be involved in a memorial tribute on race day to honor each of the 343 fallen FDNY firefighters. To sign your child up for this special tribute, please contact the committee at Savannah@tunnel2towers.org.
