LCRD offers ways to keep cool
Summer is nearly here, and the Liberty County Recreation Department has a number of events, classes and opportunities that will let local residents keep cool in the pool.

Open swim

Both the Hinesville swimming pool and the new pool at the Liberty County Community Complex in Midway will open Saturday, May 24. The LCRD’s Hinesville pool is in Liberty Independent Troop Park on Highway 84. Hours of operation are 2-6 p.m. daily. Admission is $2 per person. The pool may be reserved for private parties.

Family nights

Monday and Wednesday evenings are family nights. From 7:15-9 p.m., only parents and children are allowed. Admission is $2 per person.

Swimming lessons

Swimming lessons for participants ages 4 and older will be offered at both pools in two-week sessions (Monday through Thursday) as follows: June 2-12, June 16-26 and July 7-17. Lessons start at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. and at 6:10 p.m. Each class is 50 minutes long. The cost is $25 per participant for a two-week session. A limited number of slots are available.

Pool rentals

Pools may be reserved for exclusive use by individuals or groups. The fee is $50 per hour for 25 people or less, $75 per hour for 25-50 people, $100 per hour for 50-75 people and $125 per hour for 75-100 people. Reservations must be made through the LCRD office.

R.H. Soccer Club Academy tryouts
Tryouts for the Richmond Hill Soccer Club academy and select teams will be held at Devaul Henderson Park, Highway 144 East. Tryouts for ages U8-U13 will be Tuesday-Thursday, May 27-29. Tryouts for U14-U19 will be Tuesday-Thursday, June 3-5. There is no cost. Registration starts at 6 p.m. and tryouts are from 6:30-8 m. For information, go to www.richmondhillsc.com.
