Joe Watkins Flag Football tourney set
The second annual Friends of Joe Watkins Memorial Flag Football Tournament has been set for Dec. 15 at James Brown Park in Hinesville. Teams of six players can register by calling Levi Deese at 912-480-7528.
Funds from the tournament support scholarships presented to local high schools graduates who played baseball or softball and who are headed to college. Last year, Antonio Smith and Morgan Crowley earned the $1,000 scholarships.
Proceeds from this year’s tournament will also be donated to the Beasley Family Fund. The Ellabell family lost two children in a house fire in early November.
The Joe Watkins Memorial Scholarship Fund is in memory of a Liberty County High School graduate who died in a car accident last year. He was attending Georgia Southern University on a baseball scholarship and had played ball on travel teams across the state for years.
For more information, call Pat Watkins at 321-9803 or Kathy Sikes at 977-2999.
