Long County teens Nick Stock and James Fox competed in the 2011 Rage Strongman Championship last weekend in New Bern, N.C.
Stock, 14, and Fox, 16, competed in the lightweight teen division. Stock placed second and Fox finished fourth in the competition.
Stock and Fox participated in events such as the Atlas stone repetition, the tire flip press medley, farmer’s walk sandbag medley and Conan’s walk.
Both began training months ago with the Team Hinesville weightlifting team under coach Jenna Bussard, a world-ranked Olympic weightlifter. Stock since has decided to concentrate on strongman events while Fox will continue to participate in both sports.
Due to his performances in the past few strongman meets, Stock has qualified to compete in the 2011 North American National Strongman Championship in Lancaster, Ohio. That competition will be in July.
Fox has qualified to compete in a national school-age weightlifting event and the 2011 Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics, which will take place in New Orleans in July.
