It was hard enough for the Bradwell baseball team to lose its Region 3-AAAAA opener, 13-0, at Effingham on Monday. Making things tougher, the Tigers on Tuesday hit the road for a game against a hard-hitting Richmond Hill team.
The Wildcats were swinging for the fences and needed just three innings to knock out the Tigers, 19-4.
Tiger Stephon Felton threw 34 pitches in the first inning, walking five batters and giving up eight earned runs. Reliever Ryan Desbiens came in, but the Wildcats got 11 hits against him.
The early walks and hard hits allowed the Wildcats to take a 10-1 lead by the close of the first. Richmond Hill added three runs in the second inning and six in the third to close the game by the mercy rule.
Sage Sammons was 2 for 2 with one run batted in and a triple for Bradwell. Chris Bell was 1 of 2 with an RBI and a triple.
The Tigers, who are playing nearly every day this week to make up for last week’s rainouts, were scheduled to play Wednesday in Groves, but showers late Tuesday forced that game to be postponed as well.
Bradwell hosts Jenkins at 6 tonight.
