Buoyed by top three finishes from David Thornton and Jamorris Hill, Bradwell Institute won the boys’ Region 3-AAAAA cross country title on Saturday at the Richmond Hill Fish Hatchery.
Thornton won the 3.1-mile race with a time of 16 minutes, 31.24 seconds. Hill was third with a time of 17:045.02.
The Tigers edged out Effingham County for the Region 3-AAAAA crown. Host Richmond Hill High School had two runners place in the top five — Corey Joyner was second with a time of 16:43.43, and Dax Jacobsen was fourth with a time of 17:05.04.
Other top finishers for the Tigers included Rashond Harris and Dakeem Carlton. Harris was 10th with a 17:56.37 and Carlton was 13th an 18:14.37
The Lady Tigers also fared well at the meet, finishing second in the team competition to Richmond Hill
Freshman Katara Burks was the top BI finisher in the girls’ race with a time of 21:27.37. Alaliyah Howard ran the course in 22:02.49 to place eighth for BI.
Richmond Hill’s Amanda Elliott continued her domination of area cross country. Elliott won the girls’ 3-AAAAA title with a time of 20:25.71. Her teammate Rachel Hammesfahr was second at 21:08.87.
All seven of Richmond Hill’s runners finished in the top 16 in the girls’ race.
Other top finishers for BI were Jaelin Sample and Darsey McKailyn, who placed 14th and 15th, respectively.
