Nobody hit the hole-in-one but five local students received $1,000 scholarships and a few golfers did take away trophies in Saturday’s seventh annual Henry “Hank” White Golf Tournament.
Brandon Standard, Tirae Stevens, Bethany Whitlock, Sha Leia James and Shontiera Williams each received funds to help them head to college this fall.
Maj. Gen. Robert “Abe” Abrams, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, was the guest speaker and said it was an honor to help the children and honor the memory of White, a Vietnam veteran.
The teams teed off at 9 a.m. and later enjoyed a catered meal prepared by members of the First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
