The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced the 2020-21 All-Academic and Commissioner’s All-Academic Teams in a July 28, 2021 press release from the conference office.
From the entire conference, a record high 1,454 student-athletes were named to the 2020-21 SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team for maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA or better through the past academic year. Savannah State saw 116 student-athletes named to the Commissioner’s All-Academic Team, this year.
Hinesville natives Kenneth Lockhart, Romero Smalls and Marcus Scott V were among those from SSU who made the list.
Lockhart, a electronics engineering technology major, made the All-Academic Team while Smalls, a computer information systems major, a Scott, a middle grades education major, made the
SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team.
Those selected to the All-Academic Team represents students who finished the 2020-21 academic year with a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better while those selected to the Commissioner’s All-Academic Team are for those student-athletes who maintained at least a 3.0 GPA or better through the past academic year.
Lockhart (football) and Smalls (football) both graduated from Bradwell Institute while Scott (men’s basketball) graduated from Brunswick High School.
