Action like this is about to return to the Ludowici area as Blue Tide football prepares to kick off the 2015 season.

The Long County High School varsity football team recently announced its schedule for the 2015 season.
Last year, the Blue Tide ended their year with a 3-7 record. In April, Long County promoted offensive coordinator Eric McNair to the head-coach position, replacing Ron Flott, who resigned in March.

McNair will get his first chance to lead the Blue Tide in a game on Aug. 14, when Long County travels to Claxton to take on the Tigers in a preseason scrimmage.

On Aug. 28, Long County opens its regular season away from home, taking on tough Tattnall County. After a bye week, the Tide is back on the road again Sept. 11 to face Metter.

On Sept. 18, Long County plays its first home game and its Region 2-AA opener as it takes on Jeff Davis. The Blue Tide make another home stand Sept. 25, taking on region rival Bacon County in another region matchup. The kid gloves are off Oct.
2 for Long County as the Tide travel to Toombs County to take on the always-tough Vidalia Indians in another region game.

On Oct. 9, the Blue Tide are back at home, taking on New Hampstead in their last non-region game of the season. The New Hampstead game is also Recreation Night for Long County with all players, cheerleaders and coaches admitted free.

The last four regular-season games for Long County are against region opponents. The Blue Tide take on Groves on Oct. 16 in Ludowici, travel Oct. 23 to Darien to play McIntosh County, host Bryan County for homecoming on Oct. 30 and wrap up the regular season Nov. 6 by hosting the Benedictine Cadets on senior night.

All of the Long County varsity football games are played at 7:30 p.m. The team leaves Ludowici at 4:15 p.m. for away games.

The Blue Tide junior-varsity squad has home games Sept. 3 vs. Tattnall County, Sept. 17 against Metter and Oct. 8 and 22 against Pierce County and Liberty County, respectively. The Long County JV goes on the road Sept. 10 to play Brantley County and Oct. 1 to face MCA. All JV games start at 5 p.m.
