The Long County High School soccer teams continue their winning ways, notching wins over Claxton High School and Bryan County last week.
On Friday both Tide teams dominated Bryan County, both winning, 10-0. The games were in Pembroke, and were 2-AA Region matchups.
Tuesday, the Blue Tide boys and girls played in Ludowici with the Tigers coming to town. The Lady Tide won, 9-0. The Blue Tide won, 3-0.
Scoring for the Blue Tide were Beto Nervarez, who had two goals, and David Mejia who had one.
Boys coach Paul Austin said he was forced to play several of his younger players in the game.
“Claxton is a good team,” Austin said. “It took us a long time to settle into the game. Coming off three very hard fought games we came into this one beat-up, having four starters out.”
The coach said he was pleased with the individual efforts of Abel Cruz, Tito Cruz, Paul Cruz, Conor Brant, Malik Fendon and Javien Sims.
With the wins, the Blue Tide sit at 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the region. The Lady Tide are 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the region.
On Tuesday, the Tide teams have more region action with Vidalia High School coming to town. The Vidalia boys’ overall record is 4-2-1. They are 1-2 in the region. The girls are 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the region.
The games are in Ludowici with the girls beginning at 5 p.m. The boys follow.
