The region-leading Long County Blue Tide took command with a 28-6 first-half run and cruised to a 76-43 win over Liberty County on Friday.
The Tide, 8-0 in Region 3-AAA, trailed 14-6 with two minutes left in the first quarter before taking a 34-20 lead at the half. Long County held Liberty County to two points for the final seven minutes of the first half.
Liberty County, 8-7 overall and 6-2 in the region, bounced back with a 45-34 win over Woodville-Tompkins on Saturday.
The Lady Panthers held off the Lady Blue Tide for a 30-28 win Friday evening, going to 5-3 in the region. Liberty County downed Woodville-Tompkins 49-32 Saturday to improve to 8-7 on the season.
Liberty County hosts Groves on Friday and Windsor Forest on February 3 before ending the regular season February 6 at Long County.
