The Ludowici Police Department won the annual Department of Emergency Services Law Enforcement Golf Tournament on June 18 at Fort Stewart.

Chief Richard Robertson and Sgt. J.D. Campbell teamed up to defeat the others in the outside agency division. Their first-place trophy will stand in Ludowici’s City Hall.

According to Campbell, the Department of Emergency Services conducts periodic meetings between law enforcement agencies, both on the base and in the surrounding areas. The meetings are designed to enhance the agencies’ relationships, and this year the tournament was added as a team-building exercise.

"These meetings are set up to establish better communication between the agencies and to help the agencies get to know one another better," Campbell said.

The tournament, a two-man scramble at Taylor’s Creek Golf Course, drew 18 teams.

"We were just happy to have been able to participate in the tournament and to be able to network with the other agencies," Campbell said.
