Even though the Chiefs managed to get 11 hits in the game, they were only able to put up one run, and lost 3-1.
McGowan, making his second start of the year, continued to pitch well going five innings.
For the night, the Long County native faced 21 batters, struck out nine, walked one and gave up six hits. He also threw 96 pitches, including 54 strikes.
Even though he got his first loss of the year, the right hander is throwing the ball with more control this year, and through two games only has a 0.90 ERA. He also has struck out 17 batters in 10 innings while surrendering eight hits and one run.
The Chiefs (2-4) came out of the box on fire, winning their first two games. They have floundered over the last week, losing four in a row and only scoring four runs in their last three games.
