The Northeast Ohio Media Group is counting down its top 50 picks of Big Ten Conference football players, and former Liberty County High School linebacker Raekwon McMillan made the list at No. 36.
The report, posted on Cleveland.com, lists the incoming sophomore linebacker as No. 8 in Ohio State’s defense last year for his
54 tackles his freshman year. The group picked McMillan, saying he has an impressive knack for always being around the ball and making big plays.
McMillan, who is expected to be the starting middle linebacker for the Buckeyes this year, picked Ohio State from more than 20 Division I scholarship offers.
In other college-football news, incoming Panther junior standout Richard LeCounte had another big showing at an elite football camp.
Fresh off his top performance at the 2015 Rivals 100 Five-Star Challenge, held June 5-7 in Baltimore, LeCounte reportedly had a great showing at the Mark Richt Football Camp last weekend at the University of Georgia.
According to 247sports.com, LeCounte was among the top 10 athletes who stood out from camp.
“LeCounte started off the day well, running a sub-4.6 (-second) 40-yard dash and posting a 38-inch vertical jump,” Kipp Adams reported. “The rising junior looked comfortable at cornerback and left no doubt that he will be a huge priority for the Bulldogs’ coaching staff moving forward.”
LeCounte has said he is just working hard to stay on top of his game and ready for the upcoming season.
“It was fun,” he said about the Bulldog camp. “I got to talk and compete with other players from around the state.”
