HINESVILLE -- Time to take the drive on I-16 West.

On Thursday, Liberty County Panthers nose guard Deavyn Anthony signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his education and football career at LaGrange College of NCAA Division III.

Anthony set up shop to make his commitment official outside of LCHS, taking the outdoor approach in the 85-degree Hinesville weather.

He helped the Panthers win their first region championship since 2017 while they went 6-4 and advanced to the second round of the GHSA Class AAA state tournament before losing to Carver Atlanta.

In the 2021 season, Anthony recorded 17 tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble under head coach Kirk Warner.

“I want all my old teammates to strive next year,” Anthony said as his chapter as a Liberty County Panther close. “I want them to get to ‘the ship’ and keep putting in work over the offseason and do the best that they can next season.”

New place same name for Anthony as LaGrange are also the Panthers.

He will now play for head coach Earl Chambers and defensive coordinator Kendall Todd.

“The coaching staff over there is going to give me a good opportunity,” Anthony said after signing. “Coach Todd and Coach Chambers will push me in the right direction that I need to go in college. They’re going to make me grow and help me grow.”

The LaGrange Panthers went 2-8 during the 2021 season.

“I want to go to LaGrange and be the best player that I can be,” Anthony said of when he arrives on campus. “Go to work every day, build up my strength, and develop. They’re getting a great defensive player – maybe a little bit of fullback. Just a great asset to the team in general.”

Anthony will major in Graphic Design and minor in Marketing.
