The Liberty County High School 4x100 track relay team is currently undefeated this track season and hope to clinch the region 3-AAA championship. On April 16, they took first place at the Papa’s Pizza Apex Invite in Richmond Hill posting the second fastest region 3-AAA official time in the state of Georgia.

The 4x100 team runners are James Summerset, Meon “Smoke” McLeod, Caz Creasy and Jaylin Ferrell.

Meon McLeod also won the 100 meter and 200 meter run. According to track coach Keith McGee, McCloud is the number 1 ranked 100 meter runner in 3A and 2nd in state in all classes. He ran the 100 meter dash in 10.58 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 22.06 seconds.

McGee said Ken Foxworth is top three in the triple jump in the region and Leia Williams is the defending state champion in the discus in the region and is number one this season. Ferrell holds the top time in the 400 meter run at 50.15 seconds.

The team was expected to compete Monday at the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Region 3-AAA Championship. Qualifying athletes will compete at the Sectional Track meet May 8 and the State track meet May13-15.
