Panthers aim to bounce back this week

Liberty County High School’s baseball team finished its first cycle through sub-region opponents Saturday with a 14-2 loss at South Effingham. The loss puts the Panthers at 2-3 in Region 3-AAA south, three games behind South Effingham for first place.
More importantly, the Panthers trail Burke County by a half a game for third place and a chance to advance to the state playoffs.
Liberty County has never advanced to the state playoffs. If they want to end that streak, they must defeat Burke County on Friday in Waynesboro. The Bears defeated the Panthers earlier this season 3-2 in Flemington.
However, the road does not end in Waynesboro. If the Panthers really want to make some noise in the sub-region, then they need to win at Richmond Hill on April 17.
Liberty County has two tune-up games before  resuming sub-region play. Tuesday, they hosted Effingham County and Thursday they host Brantley County.
