The Liberty County Panthers resume their quest for a Region 3-AAA state playoff bid Saturday against the Groves Rebels.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
Hurricane Helene swept aside the schedules for dozens of schools, and the Panthers, 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the region, have not played since a 21-0 romp over Islands on September 20.
The Panthers’ game with Southeast Bulloch, originally slated for September 27, has been pushed back to October 15. Their game with Johnson was pushed back until November 8.
Liberty will get a nine-day break between games, as the Panthers are scheduled to travel to Savannah on October 24 to face Beach.
First-year quarterback Jah’barri Felix has thrown for 679 yards and three touchdowns. Junior Elijah Brown leads the team in rushing with 407 yards and three TDs, and Brandon Roberts has added 139 yards and two scores.
Jalen Hurd has a team-high 218 yards receiving on eight catches, and Julian Gerena tops the Panthers with 16 catches and two touchdowns on 153 yards receiving.
Groves last played September 20, falling 48-19 to Johnson. The Rebels are 1-4 on the year and 1-3 in the region.
