Panthers baseball lose in close contest
Tigers lose in double header

Following Liberty County’s 10-9 loss to McIntosh County Academy, the Panthers returned home this past Thursday to face Claxton High.

The Panthers lost in that contest 3-1 to drop to 1-2 on the season. Pitcher Brett Smith threw for five innings, giving up eight hits, two runs, and obtaining eight strikeouts. Centerfielder Dylan Stewart got three hits in four at bats with one RBI.

Liberty County’s next contest is on Monday Feb. 20 as they will go on the road against Bryan County. The Panthers defeated Bryan County in their season opener 2-1.

Bradwell Institute took on Bryan County in a double header on the road on Saturday and lost in a 11-10 shootout in Game 1. Tigers player Evan Crystal went 2-4 with three RBI’s and a run, while Jordan Lambright went 3-5 with an RBI and two runs, and Terry Wells went 2-4 with two RBI’s. Bradwell lost Game 2 10-4.

The Tigers are currently 0-3 on the year and look to obtain their first win of the year in their next matchup. Bradwell plays at home on Thursday Feb 23 against Windsor Forest at 5 pm. 

Update: Bryan County upset Liberty County on the final play of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, defeating the Panthers 6-5. The Panthers look to dust themselves off and prepare for their matchups against Savannah Country Day and Bradwell this week.
