Thursday’s victory at Mill Creek Park was also Gonzales’ debut as a Lady Panther pitcher and, according to head coach Jerome Standard, she had an outstanding performance pitching three and a third innings, striking out five and giving up three hits and walking only one batter.
Cassie Standard also struck out five, allowing four hits and walking five.
The Panthers’ battery was also hot with 17 hits, led by Cassie Standard, who went five for five with a triple; Courtney Miles, three for four with two doubles; Elyssa Lemapu, three for five with a triple; and Ashley McRae, with two singles.
Dominique Sibley, Chelsea O’Quinn, Tyshunn Williams and Nazaren Hines also aided the offensive attack with a single each.
Although the Lady Panthers were hot at the hits, they committed nine errors in the field.
