Panthers edge closer to playoff spot with rout of Beach
LCHS Panther

The Liberty County Panthers showed no lingering effects from their heart-stopping win the week before.

The Panthers, who downed Long County in a 33-32 thriller the week before, blasted Beach in their home finale 39-7. The win was the fourth straight for the Panthers, who are now 6-3 on the season and 4-2 in Region 3-AAA.

The Panthers, by virtue of their win over Long County, hold the No. 3 spot in the region and finish the regular season next at Savannah Christian, currently second in the region. Calvary Day has secured the region title and the No. 1 seed.

Friday night against Beach, Carlos Singleton connected with James Summersett for three touchdown passes, and the Panthers also got TD runs from Jamar Joseph and Paul Brown. Liberty built a 22-0 lead at the half and had a 36-0 cushion before the Bulldogs scored early in the fourth quarter.

Singleton went 12-of-17 for 150 yards and three touchdowns, and the Panthers added 264 yards on the ground. Brown ran seven times for 73 yards, Joseph had 23 yards rushing, and Singleton added 60 yards on three carries. Ten different Panthers had at least one carry against the Bulldogs.

Summersett had five catches for 100 yards, and Ron Golden had 32 yards on five receptions.

Trey Aiello added a fourth quarter field goal for the Panthers.

Liberty’s defense registered four sacks and two interceptions.

Liberty will take on Savannah Christian on November 4 at Pooler Recreation Park.
