Panthers first track meet successful

The Liberty County Lady Panthers finished first and the Panthers took second at their first meet of the season Thursday at LCHS.

The Lady Panthers had 147 team points, while the Panthers had 120.5 in their division.

Lady Panther Destiny Hall placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.54 seconds. Teammate Jaelynn James was right behind her, placing second at 26.64.

In the boys’ 200 dash, Panthers Jarquel Richardson, Michael Guy and Marc Dickey placed first, second and third, respectively, with times of 23.14, 23.74 and 24.24. Desmon Hines was second in the 400 run in 53.24.

Both the Lady Panthers and Panthers both took first place in the 4x100 relay.

In the girls’ discus, Lady Panther Dejah Smith was first with a throw of 109 feet, 7 inches. Chelsea Beverly was third with a toss of 74-1.

Panther Etienne Chatman was second in the discus at 97-0 in the boys’ division.

In the girls’ high jump, Domonique Woodard and Domonique Rogers took first and second respectively at 4-4. Kyrah Benning cleared 4-2 for third.

James took first place in the girls’ long jump at 15-9 1/2 inches and Kiara Edwards was third at 14-2. In the boys’ long jump, Richardson was second at 19-3.

Panther Chris Helvie as second in the pole vault at 10-0.

Smith placed second in the girls’ shot put at 29-4 1/2 inches. Anthony Stewart won the boys’ shot put with a toss of 40-7. Chandre Mells placed second with a toss of 39-feet, 9 3/4.

Alyisha Anderson placed first in the triple jump for the girls at 37-1. Shanice Richardson finished second at 31-3 1/2.

The Panthers host another meet at 4 p.m. Thursday.
