The Liberty County Panthers held on for a 6-4 win over First Preparatory Christian Academy on Friday, sweeping their two-game season baseball series.
The Panthers trailed 2-1 in the fourth inning when Matthew Richardson put them in front for good with a two-run double, igniting a four-run rally. Richardson later scored on a wild pitch and the Panthers tacked on another run with two out and nobody run as Ezekiel Herrington walked and came around to score on an error.
Chase Streeper brought in two runs for the Highlanders with a fifth inning single. Bryce Stafford, however, pitched two scoreless innings in relief to get the save, including keeping a runner at third with one out in the seventh to end the game.
Freshman Caden Chancey struck out four in five innings to get the win for the Panthers. He gave up eight hits.
Glemon English had two hits for the Panthers, who finished with five hits. Carlos Singleton tripled and scored in the fifth.
Logan Brown had three hits for the Highlanders.
